Penumbra 2025 Edition

We would like to thank everyone who submitted their wonderful pieces to Penumbra for our forty- third edition. It takes immense bravery to put your writing out there, and acknowledging that courage is what makes this book worth it every year. Every piece is read carefully, with a pen in hand, and anonymously. They are chosen for their originality, voice, and creativity. And please, if your work was not chosen this year, never give up on writing. Your talent exists beyond this book. 

We are delighted to recognize the support of the GFA community in the creation of this book. The English Department, although there aren’t enough words to express our gratitude, has always provided immense support and guidance to student work. You provide us with opportunities for inspiration, and some of our best work is attributed to your mentorship. You are our biggest fans and we cannot thank you enough! Thank you the Art Department, for  fostering a strong, creative environment for our school’s artists. Thank you to Mrs. Sullivan, for her love of literature and her love of Penumbra- your support means the world to us. Mr. Abel and Ms. Teyan for the creation of Camp Penumbra- our in-house work day. Thank you!
